Wednesday 14 July 2021
1000-1300 & 1400-1700
(Hybrid workshop – available to attend in person* in Bristol or online)
This day will explore a wide range of ways of using the voice within creative group work and is aimed at both experienced vocal practitioners and music leaders wanting to incorporate vocal work into their practice.
The first part of the workshop will focus on skills and techniques required in the context of opera outreach, and how to encourage participants’ creative voice to tell stories through music.
In the afternoon, James Redwood will take you through a range of different approaches to song-writing, from heavily-scaffolded to almost completely free-form, and will introduce a number of songs and rounds which can be used as warm-ups or as a musical break within a longer session.
*Please note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions the format of workshops may change from in person to online learning. We will keep you informed of any changes
