Since it was first established 1500 years ago, Stepney has attracted the rich and famous: infamous monarchs, roving explorers, as well as men of religion and charity. After all, there aren’t many areas where you can find out about King John, William Booth, Thomas Barnardo, Frederick Charrington and Thomas CromwellIn this virtual tour, Daniella will show you Stepney’s rich history – the churches, palaces and gorgeous Georgian mansions.

Stepney is an area that developed as a result of London Docks and was one of the heaviest bombed areas in World War Two. Not only was much of the area destroyed, but also the lives of the people who lived there. A place especially important to our guide Daniella – where she was brought up, and has family connections going back nearly 500 years.

This 75 minute virtual tour will be brought to you by East London on Foot, a group of guides with a shared passion for London’s vibrant, ever changing East End. The tour will be hosted by Daniella King.
