Charles Booth’s famous ‘Poverty Survey’ and mapping actually began right here in the East End and he headquartered himself at Toynbee Hall. On this virtual tour, late 19th century maps and notes will be used to plot a course round Whitechapel and Spitalfields, whilst hearing about an environment created by centuries of immigration.
This 75 minute virtual tour will be brought to you by East London on Foot, a group of guides with a shared passion for London’s vibrant, ever changing East End. The tour will be hosted by Sean Patterson.
