For the past fifty years, Spitalfields Music has championed contemporary music – now we need your help.
To continue to provide a platform for adventurous composers, we need to raise over £30k each year. Donate today to join our Commissioning Circle – a family of music lovers who join together to commission new works.
We delight in sharing the best of new music with people like you. In recent years, we’ve brought you over 70 new works by composers including Errollyn Wallen, Edmund Finnis, Electra Perivolaris, Sir James MacMillan, Ninfea Cruttwell-Reade, Arun Ghosh, Héloïse Werner, Oliver Leith, Emily Levy, and Roderick Williams.
We do things differently. When we help ‘birth’ a new piece, we want to see it grow and thrive. We work tirelessly to make that happen, working with partners like BBC Radio 3 and Arts Council England, plus festivals and performers around the world, to ensure that music is heard as widely as possible, rather than perpetuating the outdated model of a single performance for a new work.
We also commission new songs for our schools and community projects in Tower Hamlets from rising stars such as Anna Pool and Tom Hickox, because new music is for everyone.
Members of the Commissioning Circle will be first to hear about our future artistic plans, and we’ll offer the chance to meet creative teams behind some of the upcoming premieres. If you can make a more significant contribution, we’ll ensure that you receive a special signed copy of the score – ask us if this interests you.

We have secured generous match funding, so that the first £5,000 of donations made this month will be doubled. Please join us to support the future of British music. Every donation, of every size, makes a difference.
