Sarah Gee has been Chief Executive since 2019, and was previously a trustee between 2008 and 2014. She co-founded Indigo-Ltd, an arts management consultancy, in 2007, running it for 14 years following a similar period in marketing & fundraising for orchestras in London and Birmingham. She still works as a consultant on a discrete number of projects alongside her part-time Spitz role.
Sarah grew up near Glasgow, and trained as a hornplayer. She can still be found at the back of orchestras, trying not to split notes.
More about Sarah…
A fun fact…
I was once HRH The Duke of Edinburgh’s personal barmaid for the evening. It’s a racy tale, involving Newcastle Brown Ale and police protection officers.
Furthest you’ve been from home?
Technically Australia, although culturally Japan felt far further from home. Despite loving it, I feel very conflicted about travel, given the environmental impact, so have done several trips to Italy by train – a wonderful adventure!
Number 1. song recommendation?
That’s like asking a musician to choose their favourite child!
If classical, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde but if it’s a pop song, Tonight We Fly by The Divine Comedy.
