Arts Council England offers Spitalfields Music increased funding as part of National Portfolio

Posted on

Spitalfields Music is thrilled to be confirmed as one of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisations until March 2026.  Having recently described us as having “an international reputation for its quality, reach and innovation”, ACE’s support of £97,488 pa will go towards our work in the East End of London, supporting young people in local schools and our choir, New YVC, to build communities through music, alongside creative leadership development and our award-winning summer Spitalfields Music Festival.

ACE has offered support for additional activity, including a year-round concert series, designed to offer hyper-local performances in the historically under-served eastern boroughs of London.  We also hope to expand our singing programme for young people in Newham and Tower Hamlets, and further develop successful work on music and mindfulness in schools.

Professor Maurice Biriotti, Chair of Spitalfields Music, said: “We are delighted that ACE has shown faith in our future plans.  While the general economic climate is challenging for our sector, as with the wider economy, we know that people need music and other arts like never before.  Alongside this investment, we will continue to fundraise to ensure we can deliver life-changing work across our diverse communities and give children and young people the opportunities that they deserve.”

Spitalfields Music is currently seeking new trustees, with a deadline of Monday 7 November.  More information at https://spitalfieldsmusic.org.uk/spitalfields-music-are-seeking-new-trustees/
