Spitalfields Music is delighted to announce the appointment of Nick Addyman as its new Chair of the Board of Trustees. He will assume the role following the departure of Professor Maurice Biriotti OBE, who stepped down following nine years of service.
Nick Addyman is a practising Solicitor and founding member of the Parabis Group. He is the chairman of Laurus Law, and has served on the board of various arts charities, including until very recently English National Opera, where he was also Chair of the Finance Committee. Emphasising his commitment to community, Nick has been a Governor of two schools, is a Trustee of The Queens Nursing Institute and has fundraised for a range of other charities.
Nick says:
“Spitalfields Music brings artists, audiences and communities together through music. Music has the power to transform the lives of all, and I am thrilled to be working alongside Sarah, her team and all the Trustees in delivering our mission. I am looking forward to meeting and working with all involved in our communities as we continue to develop and strengthen Spitalfields Music”
The appointment comes as Spitalfields Music’s Chief Executive, Sarah Gee, steps into the new dual role of Chief Executive and Artistic Director. This recognises her work over the past five years in the curation of Spitalfields Music Festival, alongside leading the year-round programme of Creative Leadership and Neighbourhood Schools activity.
