Skills Lab Academy 2022 concludes with a day focusing on Music-making and Mindfulness. This has been developed alongside experts in music and wellness methodologies, Mindful Music ,with whom we previously delivered a series of online wellbeing workshops for musicians and practitioners during the 2020 lockdown, The Island of the Self neighbourhood schools project, and a day of Music & Mindfulness for families as part of Spitalfields Music Festival 2021.
Mindful Music’s Founder & Director, Martha Wright will kick off the session as guest leader, offering an overview of mindfulness techniques and methodologies that use music to support wellbeing, and help participants explore their feelings within the context of a creative music workshop. Spitalfields Music Leader James Redwood, will run the afternoon session with an exploration of strategies to managing different energies in workshop spaces as well as providing tips for looking after yourself as a professional music leader working in a range of community settings.

This year’s Skills Labs workshops will all be held in-person (in line with current government guidelines). However, as we want to ensure that our workshops are accessible to all who wish to take part, please get in touch to let us know if attending in person isn’t preferable or possible for you, so we can discuss alternative options.
