Spitalfields Music Festival 2025

Consone Quartet

Musical lineages converge in a programme for String Quartet

Friday 4th July, 7pm

St Mary-le-Bow

PRICE: £15-25

Celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2025, the multi-award winning Consone Quartet bring us a never-before-heard programme of music by composers who themselves drew inspiration from composers of previous generations. The performance includes the premiere of a new String Quartet by Oliver Leith, co-commissioned by Spitalfields Music, based on the chaconne, a mesmeric 16th century dance.

Henry Purcell (arr. Benjamin Britten)     Chacony
Joseph Haydn     String Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 33, No. 2
Oliver Leith      On a horse, on a hill, faraway, through fog and bonfire
Robert Schumann     String Quartet in A minor, Op. 41. No. 1

This event is supported by the Vaughan Williams Foundation and the Hinrichsen Foundation
