Re-imagined Black History & Music Walking Tour

Black Music & History of the East End

Historian and writer S. I. Martin presents an imagined walk through London’s East End, sharing the area’s musical history, with exclusive recordings from Chineke! Junior Orchestra, including the world premiere recording of Amanda Aldridge’s Three Arabian Dances.  Aldridge – a singer who trained with Jenny Lind and went on to teach Paul Robeson – was an important member of London’s Black community in the late 19th and 20th century, and composed under the pseudonym Montague Ring.
