Unfortunately Philip does not have many recordings of his works, however, we are pleased to share with you Sometimes I feel like a Motherless Child, sung by the BBC singers, which can be viewed here. This piece is an example of blues being treated in a classical format.

You can also listen to Zouk from Philip’s suite for solo steel pan and strings and Tranquillo, which he calls an alternative lullaby, where the inner textures of the string parts are support by a pulsating calypso rhythm: the first part is played by strings which is then taken over by wordless vocals in the middle accompanied by strings, to end with a coda played by strings. Please note that Zouk and Tranquillo are both from sibelius recording as they have not been recorded. These three pieces allude to what Philip is aiming to explore in Songs of Migration.
