Since it was first established 1500 years ago, Stepney has attracted the rich and famous including infamous monarchs and roving explorers, as well as men of religion and charity.
There aren’t many areas where you can find out about King John, William Booth, Thomas Barnardo and Thomas Cromwell – and even Joseph Stalin.
This walk profiles Stepney’s rich history, visiting the sites of churches, palaces and gorgeous Georgian mansions, in the company of tour guide Daniella King, who was brought up in the area and can trace local family connections back over 400 years.
