Pigmalion by Jean-Philippe Rameau – Online Premiere

Dunedin Consort X Rowdy SS feat. Claricia Parinussa and Rebecca Bellantoni

Tuesday 6 July, 8pm (2021)

Online event

An opportunity to enjoy the premiere of a new production of Rameau’s Pigmalion from the comfort of your own home.

PRICE: £15

Pigmalion is a talented sculptor, carving his ideal woman, much to the dismay of his fiancée Céphise. As the statue takes shape, he appeals to the goddess Venus to bring his artwork to life, and everyone’s fortunes are changed when la statue transforms, awakes – and dances.

Written over 270 years ago, Rameau’s opera feels very much of our times, exploring themes of love, narcissism, gender, creative genius, power and image culture.
