As part of our 40th anniversary celebration we commissioned composer and workshop leader James Redwood to create a piece of music in collaboration with pupils at three of our Neighbourhood Schools.
During the autumn term James Redwood and librettist Hazel Gould worked with Year 3 and 4 pupils from St Matthias, Canon Barnett and Stewart Headlam primary schools, gathering creative ideas inspired by themes of ‘celebration’ and the local area.
Three teams of workshop leaders, all previous trainees in our Trainee Music Leaders scheme, then taught the song to the schools in the summer term, alongside creating their own pieces to be performed in the final performance at Spitalfields Market.
