This has to be the most accomplished choir in Britain…” The Independent
In 1666 the landscape of London was changed forever as the city was ravaged by the Great Fire.
Inspired by this turning point in London’s history, and commemorating its 350th anniversary, Iain Bell’s new cantata charts the fire’s beginnings as the smallest of sparks to the climax of the devastation of St Paul’s Cathedral.
This world premiere is presented alongside Berio’s Cries of London, shaped by sonic portraits of the city from the 1700s.
Approximate end time: 8.15pm
