Chamber orchestra The English Concert marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare with an evening of lush arias and love duets from baroque operas inspired by his greatest works, including Purcell’s The Fairy Queen and Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto.
Written for the superstars of the time, an astonishing range of emotional roles are contained within, from seduction and ambition to madness, betrayal and revenge.
