Established in 1976 as a single fundraising concert, Spitalfields Music Festival has evolved into a dynamic force in the UK’s musical landscape, renowned for its innovative concerts and cutting-edge new commissions. Each year, we premiere commissions from both established and emerging composers, feature outstanding musicians, and curate concerts that blend music with powerful storytelling. Through collaborations with historians, researchers and writers, the festival offers a rich experience that explores the possibilities of musical expression.

Year-round programme
Our concert programme offers a range of engaging and inspiring performances throughout the year. We bring music to different venues across East London, helping sustain the rich and vibrant cultural landscape of the area. We provide spaces for artists of all backgrounds to explore their creativity, experiment with new ideas, and reach a wider audience, and rooted in the community, we produce concerts with our Neighbourhood Schools, giving students the chance to take the stage in the culmination of their creative projects.
Our Legacy
With nearly 50 years of history, the festival has built a rich legacy, celebrating established and emerging talent through our programmes.
