Following the roaring success of A Fairy Queen in the Forest, where we met over 500 babies and adults from Barking & Dagenham and Newham, Spitalfields Music returns with a new musical adventure through bubbling brooks and steaming chimneys. A lonely mudlark and a cheeky magpie search for the key to unlock a terrible spell. As they pull everyday objects from the muddy banks of a river we see that the most ordinary things can transform during magical moments of play. Created for babies, Mudlark Dances will have you and your child singing and moving to the delights of Monteverdi.
Collaborating once again with young artists from The Sixteen and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, we have also introduced East London Dance and our Associate Artists Early Opera Company into the mix to create a brand new world of interaction for 0 – 2 year-olds. The tour takes our early years work outside of Tower Hamlets to other East London boroughs as part of a three year touring programme supported by Arts Council England’s Strategic touring programme.
Supported by Arts Council England, Garfield Weston Foundation, John Lewis, London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, THAMES and Youth Music
