Rich Mix

A story of love, loss and memory told through music

PRICE: £22 / £15

Beside the Sea tells a story of how music, love and family meet one of the greatest challenges.

Acclaimed Irish composer Ian Wilson created this new piece of music theatre following his late father Jim’s long battle with Alzheimer’s. The result explores the role memory and music have in shaping a person, in forging the strongest of bonds between people, and in defining what’s truly important in life.

Violinist Dušica Mladenović narrates through her playing, her movement and her interaction with the on-stage objects – Jim’s old guitar, his tools, records from his collection – to build a picture of a life intrinsically shaped by music.

Far from downbeat, it’s a universal and uplifting story of changing minds and bodies, and – most of all – love.
